I've had 20 years of vision therapy without success, I try to CBT?

Beahavioral Cognative therapy has received much press lately in many fronts, especially with disorders such as OCD. I struggled with depression, lack of motivation and low self-esteem, alone and with a procession of therapists INSIGHT since a suicide attempt at age 20. Not much seems to feel better, atleast not socially. Should I try a CBT? Has anyone reading this had severe positive life changes as a direct result of this type of therapy? I keep trying to convince my mom to see someone about your fence. But he can not escape the feeling ironic I'm really talking to myself. (Not a hoarder, just addicted to the vision of the world is a lonely artist.) How and Why is it better? Is Hypnosis and NLP into account as part of the process?
