History of hypnosis

The use of hypnosis as a therapeutic tool is as old as man himself. As far back in time, we can find records of hypnosis is used to heal and bring about change. Hypnosis has been used by several names over the centuries and the use of hypnosis for healing dates back to around 3000 BC in Egypt. Both the new and the Old Testament of the Bible speak of what could be considered that hypnosis, and the ancient Greeks and Romans had sleep temples where would be those who seek healing was in a trance like sleep. Your dreams, would be interpreted by priests. For rhythmic drums and monotonous song together the setting of the eyes, the shaman of today can still produce catalepsy of the body and this helps to give the shaman the appearance of having magical powers as they have for centuries. Much of what has been done in the past by the village witch, shaman or wise woman, is attributable to the promotion of a strong belief, conviction, hope and imagination in which it is cured, and chanting and singing often takes the form of what might be called as a suggestion. After all, if the most powerful and magical someone you know tells you become, it is very likely to do just that. Of course, in many cases in which such individual is administered to a sick person who have recovered eventually anyway, and this intervention only accelerated the healing process.

It has long been believed by many healers the body, thoughts and emotions can influence one another. Therefore, it is possible to influence physical illness, working in particular, and realize the emotions and by changing thoughts and behavior patterns.

The Romans said 'mens sana in corpore sano healthy mind in healthy body.

This saying seems to confirm for many centuries it was believed that the physical and emotional well-being have an effect on each other. To put this in perspective, just consider how our health declines after periods of stress or following radical events.

The division between body and mind in medicine is something that only took place around 1750, with the scientific evolution of Newton. Since then, mind and spirit have been considered under the jurisdiction of the church and the body under the jurisdiction of science. This is also the reason why all other kinds of medicine to see the human being as a whole composed of body, mind and mind.

Traumatic experiences are not only stored on an emotional level but also on the physical plane. The emotional burden of different traumas can influence our immune system and health conditions.

For the treatment old traumas and emotional burdens that are connected to a particular disease possible to find the resources within us to help us start the healing process.

Modern hypnosis began with Anton Mesmer (1734 – 1815) in the 18th century. Mesmer was a study of medicine at the famous medical school of Vienna and after studying as a Jesuit priest, became interested in magnetism. Mesmer became the main European expert in magnetic healing, where magnets where passed over the body to effect a cure. Its fabulous results, where and why it became very famous. Mesmer believed that all living things contained in a kind of magnetic 'fluid' and if a person had enough of this liquid, it would be healthy. Here is where the term "animal magnetism" comes from.

Mesmer forgot his magnets and one day it just passes over the patient with his hands and was surprised to find that better. From there, he thought there was enough in itself magnetic fluid major effects of the cure.

James Braid (1795-1860) coined the terms hypnotism "and hypnosis, in 1843. He was a Scottish surgeon working in Manchester. He found that some people could go into a trance if there eyes where a bright object like a pocket watch, for example. He believed that a neurological process was involved and that the process could be very useful when no organic origin can be found for a disorder of the people.

James Esdaile (1808-1859) another Scottish surgeon India working on fixing e is used to prepare a patient for surgery and slow sweeping movements, placing them in a deep hypnotic sleep, causing total amnesia throughout the body.

James Braid and James Esdaile, where one of the first that could be called "scientific" in their investigations and the use of hypnosis. These pioneers removed hypnosis from the realms of the 'mystical', and began to experiment with what can actually be done with it to help people with their disorders. Other scientific pioneers include Liebeault, Bernheim, Brewer and Freud. Unfortunately, the great man himself, Freud, was responsible for hypnotherapy being shelved by many for some time when it abandoned its use.

Among those who have been instrumental in the current view of the hypnosis are: Milton Erikson, Ormond McGill, Charles Tebbetts and Dave Elman.

Ormond McGill was, is indeed a stage hypnotist, but kept the public interest in hypnosis, but then the great Charles Tebbetts participated in stage hypnosis in the first part of his career, but at different times to those in which we live today and hypnosis prove to engender the desire to know more about this art curious and therefore bring many of the people who moved the therapeutic use of hypnotherapy forward through last (20th) century.

Dave Elman brought some measure of acceptance to hypnosis from the medical profession in the U.S. when the Council on health care of the American Medical Association accepted the use of Hypnotherapy in 1958.

Probably the most important contribution to the acceptance of hypnotherapy as an art and a science, was the grandfather of hypnotherapy – Dr. Milton Erikson. Dr. Erikson was a psychiatrist and therapist with outstanding professional credentials and his strong background doctor who had credibility within the medical profession. Other noteworthy individuals for their contribution to the advancement of hypnotherapy as a healing art and as a science in the 20th century are: Rosen, Abramson, Menninger, Shenek, Magonet, Wolberg, LeCrone, Bordeaux, Wetzenhoffer, Erwin and Simonton, who continues to do amazing things with cancer patients using mental imagery and focus on beliefs and belief systems, among other things.

What is hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is the application of therapy during hypnosis, to change or modify behavior patterns that we want to change, as the compulsion to smoke, gamble, drink, etc. You can help in the cure of phobias such as fear of spiders and insects, fear of flying, fear of thunder and lightning, fear of injections, etc. It can help with motivation, building confidence, reducing stress and can be very effective in pain control.

Hypnotherapy deals with Psychosomatic problems – that is, problems mind that are rooted in and controlled by the subconscious mind. We always do what our subconscious mind tells us even if it goes against reason and logic. Hypnotherapy therefore, prevent the conscious mind to allow positive suggestions affirmation of life-for change, of our own choosing, which feed our mind subconscious directly, so we can act.

Hypnotherapy, and more specifically, hypnotic suggestions have a cumulative effect, so that over time there is an accumulation of suggestions were reinforced in the subconscious mind which will rule on, and make it faster than if they ate the suggestions for your conscious mind.

In case of problems in a causal event or events may exist in the past, hypnoanalysis is used initially to find the event or awareness events and release the emotion and motor actions associated with them, freeing the individual from the clutches of an outdated and obsolete (possibly never really needed at all) pattern of thought and / or upgrading. After this, healing and suggestions neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) are used to create the desire in people exchange to strengthen and support the movement forward in a positive future.

Hypnotherapists do not control your mind!

Hypnotherapy empowers you to take control of their mental resources to achieve the desired changes. You are always in control during hypnosis and hypnotherapy, and the therapist can not force you to do anything against his will, or is not within you as an individual to do. With a little work a good therapist and a good customer who wants to make changes and is motivated to be be able to to achieve success in approximately 95% of cases.

Who can be hypnotized? I would say that virtually everyone can be hypnotized if have a good therapist and willingness to cooperate with them to work on the problem being presented.

What does hypnosis feel like? I know how feels to me, but it feels different to some people than others. I would explain it as an easy and relaxed feeling a heightened state of consciousness.

Sometimes you may be prone to get away for a while as daydreaming, and you can be as easy to concentrate on the voice of her therapist. Its good therapist will ensure you get the best of your hypnotherapy session and will guide you through everything you need to know.

Hypnotherapy can help solve many problems, including:

Fear of crowds FlyingFear
Lack ConfidenceStress Affairs
Low Self EsteemFear Heights
The nerves of panic AttacksExam
Driving Test NervesSmoking
Biting LossNail Weight
Relationship

Question about self-hypnosis.?

I am interested in self-hypnosis and I have a question about induction of the same. So, to start making you want to have an induction technique that works best for you (fixation of the eyes, etc) and then move to a deepening technique (Technical descending the stairs, etc)? Then once that is completed, you want to move towards the target, such as past life regression, or find a soul mate. One to go through that goal, then they take you out of trance. Is this correct? Summer: induction, consolidation, goal, finish.

Some time ago I attended a lecture on techniques of autosuggestion. Any idea on this can be found in a famous book written by the author Napoleon Hill. The book's title is "Think and Grow Rich ". You can also try to participate in some kinds of Yoga. Some of these techniques are also taught there.
